Orlando, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - For the first time in two weeks, the Knights hit the road and will be heading to Hattiesburg, Miss., to face conference rival Southern Miss on Saturday, Nov. 12. The game is scheduled to be televised on CBS Sports Network with an 8 p.m. Eastern kickoff.

Southern Miss finished with an 8-5 record in 2010, and flew under the radar as one of the better teams in Conference USA. The Golden Eagles could have easily had a 12-1 record last season as they had four losses that were by six points or less. Those four losses included two one-point losses against East Carolina and UAB, one six-point loss against Tulsa and a three-point loss to Louisville in the St. Pete Bowl. With those losses in mind, the 2011 season has potential to put the Golden Eagles back on the radar and compete for a spot in the C-USA Championship Game.

In the series between these two programs, Southern Miss holds a 5-1 record. The Knights only win in the series came on the road in Hattiesburg back in 2007, and since then the Knights have dropped three straight to Southern Miss. The Golden Eagles won 31-21 in last season's matchup and prevented the Knights from completing 2010 with an undefeated C-USA record.

Offensive Player to Watch
Southern Miss quarterback Austin Davis is returning to campus for his senior season and is looking to post even bigger numbers than he did last year. With Kelvin Bolden (team's leading receiver) and Kendrick Hardy (team's leading rusher) returning, Davis has the offensive weapons around him to put up big numbers. His stats last season were impressive. Posting over 3,500 yards of total offense and 30 combined touchdowns, Davis is one of the best playmakers in C-USA. He ranked 24th in the nation in passing yards last season with 3,103 yards and 17th in the nation in completions with 278. Besides ranking among the best quarterbacks in the nation, his athleticism is a headache for defenses.

Defensive Player to Watch
On the defensive side of the ball for the Golden Eagles, senior defensive lineman Cordarro Law is the player to watch for. The three-year letterman from York, Ala., was a force on the line last year making 12 starts and playing in all 13 games for the Golden Eagles. Law had a total of 48 tackles last season (25 solo) and led the team in sacks (6) and tackles for loss (11). He also forced four fumbles and recovered two. His 10 career forced fumbles are a Southern Miss school record, and he will be looking to add to that total in 2011.
