ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The 2010-11 campaign was filled with change for P.J. Gaynor. The Jacksonville native began the year as a backup post player. He concluded the season as UCF's starting small forward.

Gaynor excelled in his starting role. He averaged 5.5 points and 3.8 boards at the end of the season, and provided head coach Donnie Jones with a scoring threat on the wing. Defensively, he used his 6-foot-8, 210-pound frame to his advantage, and made it tough on opposing perimeter players to get the ball in the basket.

Gaynor was happy to conclude his junior season at small forward. In past years, he had worked during practice with both the Knights' post and perimeter players.

"I feel like it was a great change," he said. "Coach Jones put me out there at small forward. It showed he had faith in me, and thought I could play and defend on the wing. It was a great opportunity. Now I am trying to build on that."

This summer, Gaynor is focusing on gaining another 10 to 15 pounds, and is also working on his ball handling.

It is likely that Gaynor will take some time during the offseason to reflect on his time at UCF, which he says has quickly passed.

"It is crazy. I feel old. It feels like yesterday I was coming here for summer B my freshman year. The feeling of being a senior feels good," Gaynor said.
