ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Former UCF men's golfer Devin Spies has qualified for the Stadion Classsic at UGA on the Nationwide Tour, and will begin the professional event in Athens, Ga., on Thursday. Spies played for the Knights from 2008-10.

The four-day tournament will be played on the University of Georgia Golf Course. The event features a $550,000 purse.

Earlier this week, Spies qualified for the Nationwide event by posting a 7-under 64 at the Achasta Golf Club in Georgia. Since concluding his UCF career, Spies has been playing in professional events, including some on the West Florida Golf Tour.

Playing for head coach Bryce Wallor as a senior for the Knights in 2009-10, Spies appeared in five events, including the NCAA Regionals in Santee, Calif., where he tied for 14th overall. He was a member of two squads that advanced to the postseason during his time in Orlando.
