ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF men's basketball head coach Donnie Jones welcomed new students to the university Thursday morning when he spoke at a first-year orientation session at the Student Union. Jones is one of the many UCF Athletics representatives who is speaking to incoming students this summer.
On Thursday, he encouraged new students to get active on campus through not only athletics, but also through other avenues including clubs, student organizations and volunteer opportunities.
Jones also talked about UCF Athletics' successful 2010-11 campaign, which included several Conference USA Championships and time in the national rankings for many programs.
Jones' Knights experienced great success during Jones' first campaign in Orlando in 2010-11. UCF won 21 games, recorded signature non-conference wins over 16th-ranked Florida, Miami, Princeton and USF, entered the national rankings for the first time in program history and won a pair of postseason games.
Fans can now make sure that they are at the UCF Arena to watch the Knights play in 2011-12. Season ticket deposits are currently being accepted by calling the UCF Athletics ticket office at (407) UCF-1000.
