ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Guiding UCF to a 4-0 record, junior catcher Beau Taylor was selected as the Conference USA Hitter of the Week the league office announced Monday. The native of Rockledge went a combined 8-for-17 with a .471 average at the plate in an 8-1 home win over Bethune-Cookman May 11 as well as a three-game road sweep of UAB May 19-21.

Taylor is third Knight this season to earn C-USA Hitter of the Week status, joining Darnell Sweeney (Feb. 28) and D.J. Hicks (April 25), and it is Taylor's second weekly award of his career.

During the week, Taylor had a .647 slugging percentage and a .550 on-base percentage for a 1.197 OPS. He drove in four, scored six runs, had a home run, walked twice, laid down a sacrifice bunt and threw out two runners on the bases.

Getting it all started, Taylor was 2-for-4 with a run against the Wildcats. UCF then took off for Alabama and in the series opener at UAB, the two clubs were locked in a 3-3 tie before he launched the first pitch of the ninth inning over the right-center wall en route to the Knights' 5-3 victory. Taylor added a hit in UCF's 9-0, 10-inning win the following day before going 4-for-4 with three RBI and three runs in an 18-6 triumph in the finale.

Taylor leads all C-USA catchers this season with 40 RBI and a .997 fielding percentage. He owns a .319 batting average with 10 doubles, 40 runs and four homers.

UCF carries a 33-19 record and a 10-11 mark in C-USA, and will tangle with Stetson in DeLand in a makeup game Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The Knights will then conclude the regular season at home vs. Marshall Thursday-Saturday.
