JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Taking on a North Florida team that entered Thursday with a 12-4 record, the UCF women's tennis team cruised to a 6-1 victory in Jacksonville. The Knights bumped their record to 9-7 as the contest, which was a make-up for the March 30 rainout, started a four-match road trip for the Black and Gold.

"We competed really well today. It was a big confidence booster as well as good preparation for the next three road matches," said head coach Stephanie Nickitas. "Every year fitness is one of our strengths and that showed in the win over Memphis. I really like the shape this team is in as the temperature gets warmer and we get closer to hosting the C-USA Championship."

UCF squeaked out the doubles point to take the quick 1-0 lead over the Ospreys. Earning a 9-7 victory at No. 2, Alexis Rodriguez teamed up with Jenny Frisell to take down Melanie Aguirre and Danielle Day, and at No. 3, Andrea Yacaman partnered with Taylor Dubins for an 8-6 triumph against Victoria Krook and Melinda Doak.

When singles opened up, UNF's Aline Berkenbrock had to retire with an injury after just one game at No. 1 vs. Frisell. Now up 2-0, Rodriguez surrendered only three games in her 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2 vs. Day. UCF also grabbed a win at No. 3 where Genevieve Lorbergs posted a 6-4, 6-4 decision vs. Krook. At No. 5, Josephine Haraldson came through with a 6-1, 7-5 win against Simona Weymar, and Courtney Griffith edged Doak at No. 6, 7-5, 6-3.

The Knights will remain on the road this weekend when it travels to Stetson Saturday at noon.

UCF will be hosting the C-USA Women's Tennis Championship April 21-24 at the Lake Cane Tennis Center in Orlando, and admission will be free for all fans.
