ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF volleyball team continues spring competition this weekend as it is set to play in the Florida Spring Tournament Saturday at the L. Gale Lemerand Center in Gainesville. The day-long event begins at 10 a.m. and is free and open to the public.

"Our players are really looking forward to such an intense day of play," head coach Todd Dagenais said. "This should be an excellent way to wrap-up the indoor portion of our spring-training program."

The Knights will play three matches in the morning session, which will consist of two sets to 25 points. They will open the tournament at 10 a.m. vs. Florida State, before facing Florida at 11 a.m. and South Florida at 12 p.m. to close out the first half of the day.

Following lunch, the Black and Gold will compete in three additional matches consisting of one set to 25 points and one set to 15 points.

UCF will take on the host Gators in the first game of the afternoon session at 2 p.m. The squad will then play the Bulls at 2:45 p.m., before concluding the event with a 3:30 p.m. match up with the Seminoles.

In the fall, the Black and Gold posted its best record since 2003 with a 16-16 overall mark and also tallied a program-best nine wins in Conference USA action and have high expectations for its spring season heading into the 2011 fall campaign.

After three seasons of being the league's youngest and most inexperienced team in terms of matches started per player, the Knights look to return up to six of their seven starters from last season's team, including setter Rachel Vukson (Oakville, Ont.), middle blockers Nichole Riedel (Denver, Colo.) and Tory McCutcheon (Milton, Ont.), outside hitter Angelica Crump (Atlanta, Ga.), right side hitter Evija Vilde (Riga, Latvia) and libero Meredith Murphy (Austin, Texas).
