ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF freshman Aurieyall Scott has been named the Conference USA Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week. Scott, who was a part of three school records over the weekend at the Florida Relays, earned the distinction for the first time in her career.
The first-year Knight began the weekend by breaking the program record in the 200 meters by more than seven-tenths of a second Friday afternoon in Gainesville. Scott was the top collegiate runner and second overall as she ran a 22.98, breaking the previous school mark of 23.70 in the event. Her finishing time in the 200 meters ranks as the third fastest in the nation this season.
Scott wasn't done with just one record, helping to set two more Saturday afternoon as part of UCF's relay teams. She ran the second leg in both the 4x100-meter and 4x200-meter relay teams that also broke program marks. The Knights ran a 43.53 to eclipse the previous record set just the week before of 43.73 in the 4x100 early Saturday afternoon. UCF's 4x200-meter relay team then went on to break the three-year old mark of 1:36.34 by three and a half seconds to finish second overall in 1:31.81.
This is Scott's second recognition from the league office, after being named the C-USA Indoor Championship Female Freshman of the Meet for helping the Knights to their first indoor title in program history.
