ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF women's soccer signee Megan Fish was recently nominated for the ESPN Rise/Gatorade South Carolina Girls' Soccer Player of the Year. The Summerville, S.C., native became the first soccer player in Pinewood Prep history to be nominated.

A midfielder in high school and on the club level, Fish was Pinewood's team MVP and captain of the South Carolina Independent School Association AAA state championship team. She also was the SCISA Co-Region Player of the Year and was named to the SCISA All-State Team.

Fish competed on the club stage for SC United Mt. Pleasant '93, and was on the 2010 Region III Olympic Development Program Team.

With UCF head coach Amanda Cromwell serving as an assistant coach, Fish was on the 2011 region III team that just got back from a trip to Costa Rica where they played three games, including defeating the U20 National Team.

The Gatorade Player of the Year program annually recognizes one winner in the District of Columbia and each of the 50 states, and awards one National Player of the Year in each sport.
