ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - For the third consecutive year, UCF's Katie Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn.) has earned a spot on the Conference USA All-Academic Team for women's golf with her perfect 4.0 grade point average.
Named UCF's first-ever CoSIDA Academic All-American in women's golf last year. Detlefsen is pursuing a master's degree in mass communications. She earned her bachelor's degree in only two years in advertising and public relations, also obtained with a 4.0 mark. She was the 2010 recipient of the LPGA's Dinah Shore Award, a prestigious national honor given to the collegiate golfer who best exemplifies success on the course, in the classroom and in the community.
Just this past week Detlefsen was named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and as a recipient of a C-USA Academic Medal. She has played in all 10 of UCF's events this year with her best finish being an 11th place showing at the Labor Day Shootout. Her low round of the year is a 70 (-2) in the opening round of the College of Charleston's Cougar Classic.
The Knights will return to action April 17-19 when they compete in the C-USA Championship in Gulf Shores, Ala.
