GAINESVILLE, FLA. (UCFAthletics.com) - Freshman Kaitlyn Price (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) was UCF's top shooter on Sunday, leading the entire field after the first round with a 67, as the Knights' women's golf team competed in the first two rounds of play at the SunTrust Gator Women's Golf Invitational hosted by the University of Florida at the par-70 6,002 Mark Bostic Golf Course.
Overall, UCF shot a 608 (+48) and is currently in 11th place for the tournament. Florida is atop the leader board with a 572 (+12), 17 strokes better than Florida State which posted a 589 (+29). No. 22 Arkansas is not far behind the Seminoles in third place, trailing by five strokes with a 594 (+34).
Price's 143 (+3) leaves her in a three-way tie for sixth place overall and only five strokes behind tournament leader Charlotte Lorentzen of Georgia State at 138 (-2). Sophomore Valentina Fontaine (Santiago, Chile) has played well through two rounds of play carding a 74 and 77. Her 151 (+11) is good enough for a nine-way tie in 28th place. Fellow sophomore Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) shot a 76 and 80 for a 156 through 36 holes leaving her in a tie for 54th place.
Senior Katie Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn.) came in with a 160 (+20) after the first two rounds of play. Sophomore Jordyn Hage (Winter Park, Fla.) finished the day one stroke behind teammate Detlefsen with a 161 (+21).
Play concludes Monday morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The Knights will be paired with Texas Tech and Augusta State.
