ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team heads to Gainesville, Fla. this weekend to compete in the SunTrust Gator Women's Golf Invitational hosted by the University of Florida. The field of 17 includes two teams ranked in the top-25 nationally, No. 11 Iowa State and No. 22 Arkansas, and nine teams inside the top-50 according to GolfStat.
The tournament will be played at the Mark Bostic Golf Course at the University of Florida, a par-70 course that plays at 6,074 yards. Play begins at 8 a.m. on Sunday with 36 holes and a shotgun start. The final round is also a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning.
The Black and Gold will be led by sophomore Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) at the No.1 position. Freshman Kaitlyn Price (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) will compete for the Knights at the No. 2 position and sophomore Valentina Fontaine (Santiago, Chile) is at the No. 3 spot.
Senior Katie Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn.) will represent UCF at the No. 4 position and completing the roster is sophomore Jordyn Hage (Winter Park, Fla.) at No.5.
The 2011 SunTrust Gator Women's Golf Invitational will mark the third spring in a row that the Knights have played at the Mark Bostic Golf Course including an appearance in the 2009 NCAA Regionals.
