ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team continues its homestand on Friday, hosting No. 34 Miami at 2 p.m. at the UCF Tennis Complex. Admission is free for all spectators and the first 50 fans will receive a FREE pair of UCF retro sunglasses.
The Knights (5-5) concluded a doubleheader weekend with a sweep of Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday. Freshman Erik Brunskog (Linkoping, Sweden) got the nod at No. 1 singles and recorded a 7-5, 6-4 triumph. Senior Blaze Schwartz (Pensacola, Fla.) picked up a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 2 while junior Joe Delinks (Falmouth, Mass.) improved to 7-3 this spring with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles. Schwartz and Delinks also paired for an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Miami is 5-3 on the season after opening Atlantic Coast Conference play last weekend with a win against Florida State. The Hurricanes are led by senior Carl Sundberg, who was recently named ACC Player of the Week.
The Knights will open Conference USA competition Sunday March 6, facing Tulane at 12 p.m. at the UCF Tennis Complex.
