UCF Rowing Picks Up Four Wins on Day Two of Longhorn Invitational

Austin, Texas (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF rowing team picked up four total wins vs. San Diego and Kansas State on the second day of the Longhorn Invitational on Lady Bird Lake Saturday. The Knights' varsity four squad paced the Black and Gold with a pair of wins on the day.

The varsity four boat, made up of Stephanie Galo, Chelsey Green, Tory Carroll, Amanda Schimian and Lucia Pinelli, opened the day by defeating Kansas State in the morning session by nearly 10 seconds in 8:10.9, before posting UCF's only victory vs. San Diego in the afternoon session with a time of 7:38.0.

The Knights' varsity eight team finished its day with an almost nine-second win against the Wildcats, crossing the fishing line in 7:38.0, compared to Kansas State's 7:46.8. Earlier in the day, UCF's top squad raced the Toreros to an exciting finish, but clocked in exactly one second after the San Diego squad. The Black and Gold finished in a time of 7:09.2 compared to the Toreros', who were receiving votes in the latest coaches poll, time of 7:08.2.

The final victory of the day for UCF came in the second varsity eight event vs. Kansas State in the afternoon session. The squad posted an exactly 10-second victory over the Wildcats in 7:46.9. Against San Diego, the second varsity eight also had a photo-finish, but crossed the finish line .01 second after the Toreros. UCF clocked in at 7:20.0, while San Diego snuck in a hair earlier in 7:19.9.

Also competing in the Longhorn Invitational for the Black and Gold Saturday was the novice eight team. The rookies opened the day with a second-place finish against San Diego with a time of 7:52.6, before posting an 8:22.5 finish vs. Kansas State to close out its second day of competition.

UCF will conclude the Longhorn Invitational Sunday vs. Oklahoma beginning at 9:20 a.m.

The Knights will host its lone home event of the year April 30 vs. Miami.
