ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team heads north to Stockbridge, Ga., this weekend to compete in the John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate March 21-22 hosted by Georgia State. This year's tournament field of 15 includes one team ranked inside the top 25 nationally and eight teams ranked in the top 100 according to Golfstat as of March 16.
No. 25 Notre Dame enters the tournament as the highest-ranked team followed by the Big Ten's Michigan at No. 54, Western Carolina at No. 67 and Maryland ranked No. 69. The Knights are currently ranked No. 77 after competing against a quality field at the SunTrust Gator Women's Golf Invitational finishing 12th of 17 teams.
The tournament is being held at the Eagle's Landing Country Club, a par-72 course totaling 6,047 yards. Monday's shotgun start will begin at 9 a.m. with 36 holes of continuous play. Tuesday will also have a 9 a.m. shogun start with the teams playing 18 holes to complete the 54-hole tournament.
Sophomore Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) will play at the No. 1 position for the Knights followed by fellow sophomore Jordyn Hage (Winter Park, Fla.) at No. 2. Freshman Kaitlyn Price (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) will represent the Black and Gold at the No. 3 position, sophomore Valentina Fontaine (Santiago, Chile) at No. 4 and senior Katie Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn.) rounding out the roster at No. 5.
