ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's tennis team concluded its homestand in winning fashion Wednesday as it defeated Marquette, 4-3. The Knights moved to 6-6 on the season while the Golden Eagles fell to 9-6.

Marquette came out strong and won the doubles point, by collecting wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Juniors Taylor Dubins and Andrea Yacaman had little problems with their doubles win at the No. 3 position over Chelsea Utting and Gillian Hush, 8-3.

In singles, freshman Courtney Griffith only dropped three games in her victory over Utting at the No. 5 spot. Fellow freshman Josephine Haraldson defeated Christina Ruiz, 6-3, 7-6 (5) over at the No. 6 giving the Knights a 2-1 lead. At the No. 3 position, redshirt freshman Genevieve Lorbergs dropped the first set to Hush, 0-6, but came back in the second set to force a third set, 6-1. Lorbergs won the third set and the match, 7-5.

Needing just one more point for the overall win, senior Jenny Frisell battled hard after losing the first set, 6-3, at the No. 2 spot to Olga Fischer and won the second set, 6-4. In the third, Frisell was cramping the entire set but that did not slow her down as she won her match, 6-3, giving the Knights the victory.

UCF will now head to North Carolina for a short road trip next weekend to face UAB March 26 and UNC-Wilmington Match 27.
