ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF rowing team is set to host its first home event of the season Saturday morning when it battles Jacksonville in a scrimmage at the UCF Intercollegiate Rowing Center. The two-team regatta is set to get underway at 8 a.m. on Lake Pickett.

The varsity eight team will take to the water in the first event of the day, while the Knights will also have one boat compete in the second varsity eight event, three boats in the varsity four, two in the novice eight and one in the novice four.

The scrimmage against the Dolphins is not only the first home regatta for the Black and Gold this season, but is the first for the varsity boats in 2011. The novice team already hit the water earlier this month when it took home the Yeuell Trophy at the Metro Cup in Winter Park hosted by Rollins College. The Knights defeated the host Tars' varsity eight boat with a time of 7:59.0 to take home the yearly award.

Following its scrimmage against Jacksonville, UCF will officially open the 2011 season at the Longhorn Invitational hosted by Texas. The regatta will begin March 18 and conclude March 20.

The Knights will host its lone home event of the year April 30 vs. Miami.
