VALDOSTA, Ga. (UCFAthletics.com) - Sophomore Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) turned in UCF's lowest score on Monday, shooting an even-par 73, and is currently in a five-way tie for tenth place overall at the Kinderlou Forest Challenge to pace the women's golf team.
Overall UCF shot a 313 on Monday, leaving the team with a 36-hole total of 624 (+40). The Knights stand in ninth place after the second round of play, one shot behind Western Carolina 623 (+39). Coastal Carolina continues to pace the field coming in with a 297 (+5) improving on its first round by six strokes. The 2011 UCF Challenge champion Chanticleers are 16-over par for the tournament with a total score of 600.
Pinegger has a two-day total of 150 (+4) leading the black and gold. Freshman Kaitlyn Price (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) improved on her first day score, shooting four strokes better on Monday with a 77 (+4). Price sits in six-way tie for 37th at 158 (+12). Sophomore Valentina Fontaine (Santiago, Chile) is one shot behind Price recording an 82 (+9) today giving her a 36 hole total of 159 (+13).
Senior Katie Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn.) followed her first round 77 (+4) with an 83 (+10) leaving her with a 160 (+14). Sophomore Jordyn Hage (Winter Park, Fla.) has a two-day total of 161 (+15) after recording an 81 in her second round.
Play concludes Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The Knights will be paired with Furman and Western Carolina.
