TAMPA, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Closing out its three-match road swing, the UCF women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss at No. 47 South Florida Wednesday. The defeat dropped the Knights' record to 3-3 while the Bulls jumped to 2-5 on the season.
Opening the afternoon with doubles, UCF's Courtney Griffith and Genevieve Lorbergs pulled out an 8-6 win at the No. 1 position over Irene Rehberger and Janette Bejikova. However the home team came through with victories at both No. 2 and No. 3 to grab a 1-0 overall lead.
South Florida then picked up the first three singles points to secure its win. Freshman Josephine Haraldson gave the Knights a victory at the No. 6 spot, downing Kate Parker, 6-0, 6-1, but the Bulls won the final two matches for their 6-1 triumph.
The Knights close out the week by hosting Louisiana-Lafayette Friday at 2 p.m. with free admission for all fans, before traveling to Miami to face the Hurricanes Sunday at 11 a.m.
