ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - A week after its victory over UAB, the UCF women's tennis team (3-2) will be back in action when it travels to face No. 32 USF Wednesday at 2 p.m in Tampa.
In their victory over the Blazers, sophomores Jenna Doerfler and Taylor Dubins only dropped one game at the No. 3 doubles position. Doerfler carried over her momentum into singles, claiming a straight-set victory over Jenna Cape at the No. 4 singles spot.
USF (1-5) has had a tough schedule leading up to the match against the Knights, defeating No. 25 Illinois for its only victory of the season. Janette Bejlkova and Loreto Alonso Martinez make up the No. 20 doubles team in the nation. The last time these two teams metwas in the 2008-09 season, with the Bulls earning a 4-3 win.
The Knights will return home on Friday to take on Louisiana-Lafayette (4-2) at 2 p.m. The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off a 6-1 victory over Arkansas State. Last year UCF evened up the series against Louisiana-Lafayette, 2-2, when it claimed a 4-3 victory over the Cajuns.
On Sunday, the Black and Gold will head to Coral Gables to meet No. 9 Miami (6-2) at 11 a.m. The Knights saw the Hurricanes this past fall at the Miami Invitational. Miami has two players nationally ranked in the Top 70 in singles. Bianca Eichkorn currently holds the No. 10 spot, with Anna Barnstein ranked 65th. Together the duo makes the No. 42 doubles team in the nation.
