ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After helping UCF open the spring with a strong showing at the SunTrust Gator Invitational, freshman Greg Eason (Leicester City, England) was named the Conference USA Men's Golfer of the Week Wednesday by the league office. He placed ninth at the tournament at 3-over 213.
Competing at an event the featured 14 teams, including five top-50 squads, UCF finished fifth in Gainesville.
Eason concluded the tournament on a strong note by posting a 68 (-2) in the final round. He began the two-day event with a 70 (E). The performance was the second top-10 finish of the season for Eason. He was also named C-USA Golfer of the Week on Sept. 22 after claiming medalist honors at the Adams Cup in Rhode Island.
Eason and the Knights will return to action on Feb. 27 when play begins at the John Hayt Invitational in Ponte Vedra Beach.
