SORRENTO, FLA. (UCFAthletics.com) -Sophomore Valentina Fontaine (Santiago, Chile) shot an even-par 72 in the second round and currently sits in a tie for sixth place overall to help lead the UCF women's golf team in the second day of the UCF Challenge at RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla.

Overall the Knights shot a 303 today and is currently in seventh place with a team total of 589 (+13). Coastal Carolina leads the field with a team total of 574 (-2) followed by South Carolina which carded 578 (+2) as a team and Tulane is one shot back of the Gamecocks with a team total of 579 (+3).

"We struggled a little bit coming in today, but overall we had a solid performance," UCF head coach Courtney Trimble said. "We look forward to having a great day tomorrow and finishing strong."

Fontaine's 72 combined with her 69 yesterday leave her at 141 (-3), even with Samantha Swinehart of South Carolina and Haley Stephens of Texas. Sophomore Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) followed her first round even-par 72 with a two-over-par 74 to bring her two day total to 146 (+2) which ties her for 18th overall.

Sophomore Jordyn Hage (Winter Park, Fla.) shot a 78 in the second round giving her a 149 (+5) for the tournament. Senior Katie Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn.) recorded a two-over 74 on the first day and followed that with a 79 in day two bringing her total to 153 (+9). Freshman Kaitlyn Price (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) posted an 82 in the second round giving her a two day total score of 159 (+15)..

Competing as individuals freshman Isabelle Bachtiar (Karlestad, Sweden) and sophomore Sunny Harris (Pensacola, Fla.) carded a 79 and 80 in the second round respectively, on the tough 6,319 yard par-72 RedTail course. Bachtiar has a two day total of 160 (+16) and Harris is in with a 165 (+21).

The teams get back to action tomorrow morning with the third and final round of the UCF Challenge. Play begins with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. Come support your Knights in their lone home tournament. Admission is free.
