ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Senior guard Chelsie Wiley of the UCF women's basketball team was named the Conference USA Co-Player of the Week Monday for her efforts against UTEP and Marshall. Wiley averaged 22.5 points per game over the course of the week, while shooting .556 percent (15-27) from the field to help the Knights (14-10, 7-4 C-USA) claim two conference victories.
Wiley had a season-high 26 points against UTEP on Thursday night to help lead the Knights to a 68-65 victory. Her six three-pointers in the game were a UCF season best and put her team in position for a last-second win. She followed that performance with a game-high 19 points and four more trifectas Sunday afternoon in a road victory over Marshall, 71-59.
Currently UCF's leading scorer at 14.7 points per game this season, Wiley shares the honor this week with UTEP's Gloria Brown. This is the third time in her career and the first time this season that Wiley has been awarded the weekly accolade by the league office.
Jelisa Caldwell is the only the Knight to receive the award this season, doing so on Dec. 23.
UCF will return to action Thursday night when it squares off with defending C-USA champion Tulane. Tip-off between the Knights and the Green Wave is set for 7 p.m. at UCF Arena.
