ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team (1-0) makes its first road trip of the spring season this weekend to play Jacksonville (0-0). Play is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Keith Watson Family Tennis Complex, with the match serving as the Dolphins' season opener.
The Knights began their season last weekend with a 4-3 win over Georgia State at the UCF Tennis Complex. Juniors Joe Delinks (Falmouth, Mass.) and Claudio Romano (Valencia, Venezuela) along with freshman Erik Brunskog (Linkoping, Sweden) led the charge with their first singles victories of the season. Delinks and senior Blaze Schwartz (Pensacola, Fla.) took the No. 1 doubles spot in an 8-3 victory, while Romano and Brunskog clinched the match with their 8-4 doubles win.
UCF is 18-2 all-time against former Atlantic Sun Conference foe Jacksonville in the regular season. The two teams last met in 2008 and ended in a 6-1 Black and Gold victory.
Saturday's meeting is the first of two consecutive weekend road matches. The Knights will head to Gainesville, Fla., on Feb. 4 to take on the No. 7 Florida Gators.
