ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - When the UCF men's basketball team hosts UAB Saturday at 7 p.m. at the UCF Arena, head coach Donnie Jones and his staff will be wearing casual footwear for a good cause. UCF's staff will be wearing sneakers instead of dress shoes as part of the 2011 Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers awareness weekend.
During the weekend, coaches nationwide will be raising awareness about cancer and reminding fans that by making healthy lifestyle choices, such as regular exercise and a healthy diet, they can reduce their own cancer risk. Coaches vs. Cancer is a collaboration of the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
"As a staff, we are thankful that we have the opportunity to help raise awareness about cancer," Jones said. "There have been a lot of people in college coaching who have been instrumental in bringing Coaches vs. Cancer to the forefront. Cancer impacts all of our lives. It is important for us to help bring attention to this cause."
Tickets for the contest against UAB are available at Ticketmaster.com or by visiting UCFAthletics.com.
