ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - As the UCF softball team gears up for its 2011 season-opening contest on Feb. 11 vs. Utah State at the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament, UCFAthletics.com will be counting down the days with the UCF Softball Alumni Rewind. The countdown will highlight the accomplishments of former Knights corresponding with that player's jersey number as the team enters its 10th anniversary season.
With 17 days remaining in our countdown, today's Alumni Rewind will remind fans of the accomplishments of Lindsay Bush, who was the first to wear the No. 17 jersey for the Black and Gold from 2002-03.
Bush started 115 games as the Knights catcher over the course of her career. During that time, Bush posted a program-leading .991 fielding percentage, while tossing out 27 would-be base stealers, a mark that ranks third all-time at UCF.
The catcher also ranks fourth on the UCF career register in lowest stolen base against percentage (.663), fifth in putouts (585) and ninth in chances (658).
Offensively, Bush tallied 64 hits, 44 runs scored, 38 RBI, 21 doubles and six home runs during her career, while also being named to the Atlantic Sun Championship All-Tournament Team in 2003.
The Knights posted an 83-50 record in two years with Bush behind the plate and played in the A-Sun Championship Game in 2003.
UCF hosts its 2011 home-opener Feb. 16 against North Florida at the UCF Softball Complex. UCF head football coach George O'Leary will throw out the ceremonial first pitch for the contest, while the first 100 fans through the gate will receive a signed 2011 UCF softball schedule poster.
