ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - As the UCF softball team gears up for its 2011 season-opening contest on Feb. 11 vs. Utah State at the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament, UCFAthletics.com will be counting down the days with the UCF Softball Alumni Rewind. The countdown will highlight the accomplishments of former Knights corresponding with that player's jersey number as the team enters its 10th anniversary season.
With 18 days remaining in our countdown, today's Alumni Rewind will remind fans of the accomplishments of Breanne Javier, who wore the No. 18 jersey for the Black and Gold from 2006-09.
During her time with the Knights, Javier helped lead UCF to the 2008 Conference USA Championship title and to the NCAA Gainesville Regional for just the second time in program history. During the squad's spectacular run in the post season, the Knights defeated No. 9-ranked Houston at Cougar Softball Stadium in the C-USA Championship game, before taking down the nation's top-ranked Florida in the NCAA Regional finals at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.
Javier earned a spot on the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Southeast Region First Team following her senior campaign, while also being named a three-time All-C-USA selection by the league's head coaches from 2007-09.
The first baseman was not only named one of the league's best infielders three-straight seasons, but she was also a Preseason All-C-USA selection in 2009, while also earning spots on the C-USA Championship All-Tournament Team in both 2007 and 2008, the 2008 Hawaii Paradise Classic All-Tournament Team and was named the league's Hitter of the Week on April 30, 2007.
Javier ranks in UCF's top-five in 15 career categories, holding the all-time titles in double plays turned, putouts and chances, while ranking third in hits, RBIs and total bases, fourth in batting average and fifth in doubles.
In 2008, Javier set two UCF single-season records after tallying 85 hits and registering a 15-game hitting streak from April 5th to May 4th, while also ranking in the top-10 in 20 additional categories.
Javier started 242 of her 243-consecutive starts at first base, with the other start being at the designated player position.
A C-USA Spirit of Service Award winner, Scholar Baller and two-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll, Javier graduated in 2009 with a degree in health service administration.
Following her graduation, Javier became the third former Knight to play in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) when she signed a free-agent deal with the USSSA Pride for the 2009 season.
