Knights in the NFL: Leger Douzable and Mike Sims-Walker

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Two former UCF players saw significant playing time with the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2010 season in receiver Mike Sims-Walker and defensive lineman Leger Douzable. The duo played together for three years at UCF and finished their first season as teammates in the NFL.

Sims-Walker had a productive 2010 season as he played in 14 games with 13 starts while he battled through an ankle injury which kept him out of two games. Sims-Walker finished the season with 43 receptions for 562 yards and seven touchdowns. He ranked third on the team in receptions and receiving yards. His seven touchdowns were the second-most on the team. Sims-Walker had a career-high 10 receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown on September 19th at San Diego. He had another career day on October 31st at Dallas when he recorded a career-high 153 receiving yards on eight receptions. He also scored a touchdown against the Cowboys.

The four-year pro has been a key part of the Jaguars' passing game. He was drafted in the third round (79th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft. After missing all of his rookie season due to a knee injury, he saw his first action in 2008 and finished the season with 16 receptions for 217 yards. Sims-Walker had a breakout season in 2009 in which he led the Jaguars in receptions (63) and receiving yards (869) while also adding seven touchdowns. He has played in 38 games with 28 starts and his career totals include 122 receptions for 1,648 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The Orlando Edgewater product played in 46 games at UCF from 2003-06. He played in 12 games as a true freshman in 2003 and recorded 21 receptions for 337 yards. In 2004, he played in 11 games on both sides of the ball. As a cornerback he recorded 29 tackles (23 solo), one tackle for loss and seven pass breakups. He also led the team with three interceptions. On offense he caught nine passes for 191 yards and one touchdown. He finished the 2005 season as the team's second leading receiver in receptions (64), receiving yards (855) and receiving touchdowns (9). He was named to the All-Conference USA second team for his achievements. As a senior, he recorded a school-record 90 receptions for 1,178 yards and seven touchdowns and was named to the All C-USA First Team. Sims-Walker finished his UCF career with 184 receptions for 2,561 yards and 17 touchdowns. He ranks fourth in school history in career receptions and third in career receiving yards.

Douzable signed with the Jaguars as an unrestricted free agent during the 2010 offseason. He played in a career-high 15 games in 2010 and was part of the defensive line rotation. He finished the season with eight tackles (five solo). Douzable recorded two tackles in three separate games (October 10th at Buffalo, October 24th at Kansas City and November 28th at New York Giants).

The three-year pro has also played for the New York Giants (2008, 2009) and St. Louis (2009). He played in 12 games with St. Louis in 2009 and recorded a career-high 11 tackles (all solo) on the season. Douzable's most productive game as a pro came in his first career start on December 20, 2009 against the Houston Texans when he recorded four tackles. He has played in 27 games with one start and has recorded 19 tackles (16 solo).

From 2004-07, Douzable started 24 of the 49 games he played in at UCF. His career totals include 102 tackles (26.5 for loss) and 15 sacks. As a true freshman, he played in all 11 games and finished the season with four tackles. In 2005, he played in 12 games with one start and finished the season with 17 tackles (two for loss). Douzable had a breakout season in 2006, leading the Knights with seven sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss. He also recorded 32 tackles (18 solo) and was named to the media's All-Conference USA third team. Douzable started all 14 games as a senior, including the C-USA Championship Game and the Liberty Bowl. He finished the 2007 season with 49 tackles (37 solo) and seven and one half sacks. Douzable was also honored for his academic performance and was a two-time Academic All-Conference USA selection.
