Keith Clanton Named C-USA Player of the Week

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Having helped UCF post an incredible 10-0 start, sophomore forward Keith Clanton (Orlando, Fla.) was named the Conference USA Men's Basketball Player of the Week Monday. Last week Clanton averaged 21.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks while shooting 60.9 percent overall in a pair of UCF victories.

The former Orlando Christian Prep star began the week by recording a career-high 28 points to go with eight rebounds, three blocks and three steals in a victory over Louisiana. He connected on a pair of 3-pointers against the Ragin' Cajuns and shot 10-of-14 at the free-throw line.

Clanton concluded the week by helping the Knights to an impressive victory over Miami at the MetroPCS Orange Bowl Classic in south Florida. The Orlando native scored 13 of his 14 points in the second half, as the Knights outscored Miami 51-35 during the period to overcome a 10-point halftime deficit. Clanton shot 6-of-8 overall against the Hurricanes and added seven rebounds in 25 minutes.

On the year, Clanton is leading UCF in scoring at 16.7 points per game, and on the glass with 8.8 boards a contest. He is shooting 60.0 percent from the floor and has also blocked 17 shots. He has scored in double-figures in all 10 of the team's contests.

UCF will return to action Wednesday at UMass.
