ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Earning another academic honor this year, UCF junior linebacker Josh Linam (Tavares, Fla.) was voted onto the Conference USA All-Academic Team Thursday. Earlier this season, the Knights' starting middle linebacker also received a spot on the ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team.

Linam currently carries a 3.468 grade-point average as a sports and fitness major. A starter in every game this year, he ranks third on the team with 69 tackles including 7.5 tackles for loss. He also has one sack, four pass break-ups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. And he has accomplished it all after combining for just 21 tackles in his first two seasons in Black and Gold.

The highlight of the season for Linam came Nov. 5 when he amassed 17 tackles in the win over the Cougars. The Tavares native also added 1.5 tackles for loss and broke up a pass in the Friday-night victory. The 17 tackles were the most by a Knight since Atari Bigby recorded 17 takedowns at Virginia Tech Aug. 31, 2003.

Linam follows former UCF student-athletes Rocky Ross (2009), Sha'reff Rashad (2006-07) and Keith Shologan (2007) who all have earned spots on the prestigious C-USA All-Academic Team.

Linam and the Knights (9-3, 7-1) are busy getting ready for the C-USA Championship Game at Bright House Networks Stadium against SMU Saturday at noon. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by visiting UCFAthletics.com or by calling (407) UCF-1000.
