ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF's 84-78 victory over Miami Saturday at the MetroPCS Orange Bowl Classic allowed the Knights to stay in elite company. Off to a 10-0 start under new head coach Donnie Jones, UCF is one of just nine unbeaten teams in the nation.
UCF is in impressive company as the other teams without a loss are Cincinnati, Connecticut, defending national champion Duke, Kansas, Northwestern, Ohio State, San Diego State and Syracuse.
Highlighting the impressive job that Jones has done since arriving in Orlando, the Knights are the lone undefeated squad that did not participate in the postseason a year ago.
UCF is currently receiving votes in both national polls. The win over the Hurricanes was the third victory over one of the state's traditional powers this season for the Knights, who also defeated No. 16 Florida and USF.
The Knights will return to action Wednesday at UMass.
The squad's next home game is Dec. 29 when it faces Furman as part of the UCF Holiday Classic. Season ticket and mini-plan packages are available by calling (407) UCF-1000 or by visiting UCFAthletics.com.
