ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After his team picked up a pair of victories last week, including an impressive 57-54 triumph over No. 16 Florida, UCF head coach Donnie Jones was selected as the national coach of the week by Dick Vitale. Jones' Knights are off to a 7-0 start in 2010-11.

The win over Florida was just the second victory over a ranked team in program history and the first win for the Knights against the Gators in 10 tries. UCF is currently receiving votes in both the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.

On ESPN.com, Vitale wrote the following on Jones:

"He has done a great job in his first season at the school. His team got a huge win over Florida and then followed up with blowout city against Southeastern Louisiana."

UCF's 7-0 start is the program's best since 1979-80. The Knights have already recorded victories over BIG EAST and Southeastern Conference teams.

UCF will return to action Saturday, hosting Bethune-Cookman at the UCF Arena at 5 p.m. Season ticket and mini-plan packages are available by calling (407) UCF-1000 or by visiting UCFAthletics.com.
