ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - With spring just around the corner, the UCF softball team is gearing up for another successful season under the direction of head coach Renee Luers-Gillispie as the squad released its 2011 regular-season schedule Wednesday. The slate will include 33 contests at the UCF Softball Complex, including three home tournaments, with the Knights' home-opener scheduled for Feb. 16 vs. UNF.

The Black and Gold is coming off one of its most successful seasons in program history, as it concluded the 2010 season with a 36-23 overall record, a 16-7 Conference USA record, made an appearance in the C-USA Championship game and earned its third trip to the NCAA Tournament.
The Knights will face-off against 12 of the teams that joined them in making the NCAA Tournament bracket last season, which includes a meeting against defending Women's College World Series Champion UCLA in its season-opening tournament in Los Angeles, Calif., Feb. 11-13. During the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament, hosted by the Bruins, UCF will also face Utah State, San Diego State and North Dakota State.
Following its trip to California, the Black and Gold returns home to host its first of three-consecutive tournaments, the UCF Invitational, Feb. 18-20 at the UCF Softball Complex. The event will pit the Knights against UIC, Notre Dame, Miami (Ohio) and Delaware, while UCF will also play host to UMKC, NCAA Super Regional participant Michigan, Maine, Villanova, UNF, South Alabama, Virginia Tech, Monmouth and Florida A&M during the Radisson-UCF Invitational (Feb. 25-27) and the UCF Spring Fling Tournament (March 4-6).
Other noteworthy non-conference games at the UCF Softball Complex include meetings with Valparaiso, Ball State, North Carolina, Liberty, Kent State, Florida State and a rematch vs. the Wolverines.
UCF will make only three road trips outside of C-USA play this season to battle in-state rivals Florida A&M, Bethune-Cookman and WCWS participant Florida away from home.
The Knights play host to UTEP in a three-game series in its C-USA home-opener March 12-13, while also hosting UAB, Marshall and Southern Miss in league action.
Also in league play, the Black and Gold will travel to Tulsa, East Carolina, Memphis and Houston, before making a return trip to Greenville, N.C., for the C-USA Championship which begins May 12.
