CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF rowing team posted four top-10 finishes at the Head of the Hooch Regatta Saturday on the Tennessee River, which included a first-place showing by Liz Robinson and Allisha Campaigne in the Championship 2x event and a fifth-place outing by the Knights' varsity eight A squad, to conclude its fall schedule.
Robinson and Campaigne took home top honors in their event with a time of 16:17.9, which was nearly eight seconds ahead of second-place Duke, who finished in 18:27.4. The Black and Gold's B boat of Kara Johanessen and Katherine Krueger posted a ninth-place finish with a time of 20:02.8.
In the Championship 8+ event, UCF's top boat of Robinson, Campaigne, Johanessen, Krueger, Brittany Skidmore, Alyssa Egan, Chelsey Lauzon, Michelle Haves and Margaret Lahmeyer crossed the finish line in 16:17.9 to post a fifth-place showing. Texas won the event in 16:01.1, followed by Tennessee, Duke, Clemson and the Knights. The Black and Gold's B and C boats placed 19th and 31st, respectively, in the 35-team field.
UCF's fastest varsity 4+ crew finished 15th out of 42 teams in 18:24.4, while the Knights' B and C squads tied each other for 24th place with times of 18:37.2.
In only its second collegiate regatta, the novice eight A boat posted an eighth place finish in the Novice 8+ event with a time of 18.28.7, while the novice eight B boat crossed in 19:41.7, good for 21st place.
