ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - For the second-straight season, UCF women's soccer's Lauren Halbert (Niceville, Fla.) earned two very prestigious academic honors this week. The senior was selected to the CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District Second Team and to the Conference USA All-Academic First Team, a year after she received a spot on the NSCAA Scholar All-South Region squad.

Halbert boasts a 3.84 grade-point average while majoring in health sciences - pre-clinical. She has been awarded the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal for having a GPA of 3.75 or better twice in her career (2007 and 2009).

Splitting time between defender and midfielder, Halbert has played in 18 matches for the Knights this year with 11 starts. In 1,119 minutes on the pitch, she has posted one assist while helping the defense limit opponents to just 18 goals this year as well as collect seven shutouts.

Halbert and the Knights claimed their second-straight C-USA regular-season title, and will be going for the C-USA Championship crown this week at the UCF Soccer Complex. UCF serves as the top seed and earned a bye into the semifinals Friday. Quarterfinals get underway Wednesday with No. 3 Houston facing No. 6 Marshall at 5 p.m. followed by No. 4 SMU taking on No. 5 Rice at 7:30 p.m.
