When UCF (8-3, 6-1) has the ball:
UCF clicked on all facets of the game en route to a 61-14 drubbing of the Tulane Green Wave in the Louisiana Superdome Nov. 20. Quincy McDuffie ran the opening kickoff back 95 yards for the first score of the game as the Knights never looked back, scoring a whopping 31 points in the first quarter of play alone. The Knights ran the ball at will against the Green Wave, racking up a season-high 282 yards on the ground. Back-up tailback Latavius Murray got his first start and led all players on the ground, rushing for a career-high 146 yards and one touchdown off 11 carries which was good for a game-high 13.3 yards per carry. Ronnie Weaver, who also rushed for a score, Nico Flores and Jonathan Davis all found holes in the Green Wave defense accumulating 139 yards on the ground. Jeff Godfrey was astounding when called upon, completing 6-of-8 passing for 133 yards, two passing touchdowns (a 60-yard toss to Kamar Aiken and a 28-yard strike to McDuffie) and two rushing touchdowns. UCF is averaging 35.0 points a game and is averaging 204.9 rushing yards which both ranks 21st nationally. The Memphis Tigers are currently giving up an average of 470.2 yards a game (178.1 rushing and 292.1 passing). The Tigers are also giving up 40.1 points a game which ranks last amongst NCAA FBS schools. `
When Memphis (1-10, 0-7) has the ball:
The Memphis Tigers are coming off a 31-15 loss to UAB. The Blazers shut down the Tigers' greatest rushing threat, Gregory Ray, for only 18 yards off of seven carries. If UCF wants to stop the Tigers from pulling off a devastating upset of the Knights, they will have to stop true-freshman quarterback Ryan Williams. Williams was the only thing keeping the Tigers in the game against the Blazers after completing 16-of-31 passes for 228 yards, one touchdown and a pick. Memphis is averaging 14.2 points a game (118th), 97.8 rushing yards a game (113th), and 186.3 passing yards a game (87th). Memphis will be going up against a Knights' defense that played with a chip on their shoulder against Tulane after a tough loss to Southern Miss. UCF's defense bounced back gracefully against the Green Wave, forcing two fumbles and two interceptions, including a 99-yard pick-six, and gave up 338 total yards of offense, right around their average of 320 total yards a game.
