ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - On Nov. 10, UCF head coach Donnie Jones announced a recruiting class that consisted of three of the top prep players in Florida - Rod Days, Wayne Martin and Kasey Wilson. The trio has received much praise, most recently from ESPN.com, which listed the group as one of the top-10 classes in the country among schools in non-BCS conferences.
ESPN Recruiting expert Adam Finkelstein lauded the class, writing that, "SF Rod Days (Weston, Fla./The Sagemont School) and PF Wayne Martin (Jacksonville, Fla./Providence School) represent a forward tandem who turned down recruitment from the high levels to join the Knights, while PF Kasey Wilson (North Port, Fla./North Port) is the type of blue-collar worker every championship-caliber team needs in the paint."
Days is a 6-foot-6 guard/forward who was a Florida Class 2A All-State Third Team selection as a junior. ESPN lists him as the 35th-best small forward in the country. Days averaged 16.0 points and 8.0 rebounds last year, and was a South Florida Sun-Sentinel All-Broward County Class 3A-2A-1A Second Team pick.
A 6-foot-7 forward, Martin helped Providence Christian go 31-1 last season and win the Florida Class 2A state championship. A Florida Class 2A All-State Third Team selection, he averaged 16.0 points, 9.0 boards and 3.0 blocks. Martin is ranked 30th among all power forwards in the country by ESPN.
Wilson is a 6-foot-7 forward who was a Florida Class 6A All-State Second Team selection as a junior. The Sarasota Herald-Tribune Player of the Year, he averaged 20.5 points, 11.3 rebounds and 3.5 blocks. Wilson, who is rated as the 44th-best power forward in the country by ESPN, led North Port to a 21-4 record a year ago.
