UCF 61, Tulane 14
Nov. 20, 2010
New Orleans, La.
TEAM NOTES
- UCF improves to 8-3 overall and 6-1 in C-USA play with the win. The 8-3 start matches the 2005 and 2007 season when UCF won the C-USA East Division. If Southern Miss loses to Houston tonight, the Knights would clinch its third division title in six years.
- UCF's 61 points are its highest output of the George O'Leary era, topping the 56 scored in a 56-20 win against Memphis on Sept. 22, 2007.
- UCF's 61 points today are the most it has scored on the road since a 64-30 win at Louisiana Tech on Sept. 5, 1998. It is the most overall since a 63-0 win over Liberty on Oct. 13, 2001.
- The 47-point margin of victory is the fifth-largest of the FBS era (since 1996) and the 12th-largest overall in UCF history. It is the most since last year's 49-0 win over Tulane.
- The Knights have four different players who have rushed for at least 100 yards in a game this year with Jonathan Davis (South Dakota), Jeff Godfrey (Houston), Latavius Murray (Tulane) and Ronnie Weaver (Kansas State, Marshall, East Carolina and Southern Miss) all breaking the century mark in 2010.
- With two today, UCF now has eight non-offensive touchdowns on the season (5 INTs, 2 KR and 1 FR).
- UCF's 38 first half points are the most since leading Memphis 42-0 at intermission on Sept. 22, 2007.
- Until the Green Wave scored late in the second quarter, the Knights had scored 96 unanswered points against Tulane dating back to 2006. UCF scored the final nine points of that matchup, beat Tulane 49-0 last fall in Orlando and scored the first 38 points today.
- UCF's 31 first quarter points is a school record for the opening 15 minutes of the game. The previous high was 28 against Millersville University on Nov. 16, 1991. It ties the school record for the most points scored in any quarter, matching the 31 that UCF scored in the second quarter against Fort Lewis on Nov. 19, 1983.
- Before today, the last time UCF returned an opening kickoff for a touchdown was on Oct. 6, 2007, when Curtis Francis ran it back 93 yards for a score at East Carolina.
- UCF has now scored first in 10 of its 11 games this year with the exception being against NC State on Sept. 11.
- UCF improves to 20-10 all-time against teams from the Pelican State and 4-1 against Tulane.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- Jordan Ozerities closed the game with a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown on his first career INT.
- Ozerities' 100-yard interception return is a school record, topping a 97-yard run back by Rick Hamilton against Western Illinois in 1997.
- It is UCF's fifth "pick six" of the season, establishing a Conference USA record.
- Ronnie Weaver ran for his 11th career touchdown today, moving him into a tie for seventh-place on the UCF season chart with Willie English (1990).
- Latavius Murray's rushing yards today are a career high. It is his first career 100-yard game.
- Jeff Godfrey rushed for his eighth and ninth touchdowns today. It is the second-best sum in school history behind only the 12 that Daunte Culpepper ran for in 1998 as a senior.
- Quincy McDuffie's return of the kickoff for a touchdown was his second of the year. The UCF record is three by Todd Cleveland in 1994 while Joe Burnett had two in 2008. Coming into today only Lindsey Lamar of USF, Andre Dubose of Florida and David Wilson of Virginia Tech had two kickoff return touchdowns this year nationally.
- McDuffie is tied for third on the C-USA seasonal record chart with his two. Houston's Tyron Carrier had four last year and ECU's Dwayne Harris had three last fall as well.
- It is McDuffie's third career kickoff return touchdown. That ranks second in UCF history behind only Todd Cleveland's four.
- McDuffie is tied for second on the C-USA seasonal record chart with his three. Houston's Tyron Carrier has six thus far in his career. ECU's Dwayne Harris (also still active) and Louisville's Zek Parker (1998-99) each have three.
- McDuffie is the first Knight to return a kickoff for a touchdown and also catch a touchdown in the same game since Todd Cleveland against Samford on Oct. 12, 1996.
- Kemal Ishmael made his second interception of the year today.
- Latavius Murray made his first career start today at tailback.
- Vinny Mazzurco made his UCF debut today while Brandon Davis made his season debut.
