UCF Head Coach George O'Leary

Opening Statement
"Obviously it's a disappointing game from the standpoint of productivity, on both sides of the ball. I think offensively we had some passes dropped that had big play potential. You just can't give up field position like that, but overall we were not very productive offensively. Defensively, I thought we had too many missed assignments, and obviously the kicking game missed a field goal again. But, disappointing loss from the standpoint of what he had to do against Southern Miss to get a win. I thought from an effort and enthusiasm standpoint, we have to play a lot harder than that against teams like this. I give Southern Miss credit, they made plays and we didn't make plays."

On whether playing three straight weeks against up tempo offenses caught up to them: "No I don't think so. We have got go out and execute, and that is what we have to do. You play the schedule you're dealt. When you win those games you don't seem to make excuses, so you don't make them when you lose. I think we didn't make plays on defense. We gave up way too many easy pass plays. We were too soft at linebacker, from what I can see out there as far as tackling is concerned. Offensively, we didn't make enough plays. We didn't get the running game established. That's really what happened out there. I mean give Southern Miss credit. I thought they came in and executed on both offense and defense. "

On running the ball less:
"I don't think we sustained blocks inside. There were too many guys coming off blocks and making plays, from what I could see. I will know more when I go back and look at the tape. From the sideline view, I did not think we sustained up front very well. Obviously, there was a lot of undue pressure on the quarterback in the pocket. That is typically not ourselves. A game that is very disappointing from the standpoint of production. I think it is something that you learn from. Obviously they are both very important to our success."

On poor third down defense:
"When you have a chance to make third down plays, you've got to make them. That is really what the difference in the game was. I think offensively, you try to find a niche as far as from a production standpoint. You have to get going. I thought going out no huddle on the back of that thing was working for us. We scored a touchdown."

On punting after the running into the kicker penalty:
"No, you kick that. That is what you do there. We weren't moving the ball. If we were having success, you think about it. The right decision was made."
