ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - On Saturday the Knights have a big football game against conference rival Southern Miss, but before the game there is an important event taking place. UCF, First Baptist Oviedo and the community will partner with Kids Against Hunger to help pack food that will be delivered to Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
The event starts at nine and will continue until the game begins at noon. There will be three locations on campus where volunteers can help pack the meals. There will be five lines at the IOA Plaza in front of Bright House Networks Stadium, 10 lines at the Knights Plaza in front of the UCF Arena and one line at the SGA Location at the south end of Memory Mall. Families are encouraged to help out at the IOA Plaza where there will be bounce houses, face painting and stilt walkers on site to help entertain.
Kids Against Hunger is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping starving children around the world. The meals packed on Saturday will be helping the children of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere where 60-percent of Haitians live in poverty. In the Dominican Republic, 42.2-percent of the population lives below the poverty line, and there are an estimated 260,000 orphans. The meals will be delivered to various missions and orphanages throughout both countries.
The goal on Saturday is to pack 100,000 meals. Any volunteers, ages four and up, can help pack, as well as any fans who are not attending the game. Packers do not need to have any previous experience and no donations are necessary. Packing for 15 minutes can equate to over 600 meals being prepared.

The Knights (7-2, 5-0 C-USA) will play host to Southern Miss (6-3, 4-2) on Saturday for Senior Day. The Golden Eagles received a pair of votes in the coaches poll on Sunday. Tickets are still available, including the special "UCF Fan Pack Built by Centex" which gives fans a very specially-priced $20 package of a game ticket in sections 217-219, a hot dog, a box of popcorn and a soft drink, a value of $35 for just $20. The special "UCF Fan Pack Built by Centex" can be purchased either online at UCFAthletics.com or over the phone at (407) 823-1000 while supplies last.
The game could also prove historic for the Knights as well. If UAB were to defeat East Carolina to night, then UCF would be able to clinch the C-USA East Division with a win over the Golden Eagles on Saturday at Bright House Networks Stadium.
