HIGHLAND PARK, ILL. (UCFAthletics.com) - Freshman Kaitlyn Price (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) was the UCF women's golf team's top shooter on Monday as the Knights opened play at the Windy City Collegiate Championship, hosted by Northwestern at the par-71, 6,108-yard Northmoor Country Club in Highland Park, Ill.
Overall, UCF shot a 640 (+72) on the day to tie for 11th place in a solid field that includes seven of the country's top 50 teams. No. 8 Purdue leads the tournament with a 583 (+15). The teams played 36 holes on Monday and will play the final 18 holes on Tuesday morning just outside of Chicago. UCF's tee times begin at 9 a.m. ET tomorrow with the Knights paired with UNC Greensboro along with individual competitors from Northwestern and East Carolina.
Price shot an 80 and a 77 to top UCF with her 157 (+15) on Monday. Sophomore Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) fired a 161 (+19), senior Katie Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn.) carded a 162 (+20), sophomore Valentina Fontaine (Santiago, Chile) checked in with a 163 (+21) while sophomore Sunny Harris rounded out the Knight competitors with a 167 (+25).
