ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - On day two of the UCF Invitational, the UCF men's tennis team picked up a pair of doubles titles Saturday at the UCF Tennis Complex. The four-team event will conclude Sunday.
In the top doubles bracket (gold), senior Blaze Schwartz (Pensacola, Fla.) and junior Joe Delinks (Falmouth, Mass.) topped Marc Abdelnour and Oliver Webb of Florida Atlantic, 8-4, to take the title. The pair went 2-0 at the event to take the championship.
A pair of UCF squads made the finals of the Black Doubles Draw. Sophomore Mario Samson (Miami, Fla.) and freshman Matthew Gladstone (Surfside, Fla.) took the title, posting a 9-7 win over freshmen Erik Brunskog (Linkoping, Sweden) and Matthew Zachary (Bossier City, La.).
Gladstone had a strong day in singles play. In the Black Singles Draw semifinals, he topped fellow UCF freshman Leonel Vivas (Caracas, Venezuela), 6-1, 6-7 (9), 6-2. Gladstone will meet Florida Atlantic's Webb Sunday at 9 a.m. for the title.
Georgia Southern and Embry-Riddle are also competing in the event.
Play at the tournament began Friday morning. Admission is free at the UCF Tennis Complex.
