ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team heads north to Highland Park, Ill. for the Windy City Collegiate Classic. The classic begins on Monday Oct. 4, when the Knights will play 36 holes, and continues on Tuesday Oct. 5 with the final 18. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Northwestern University, is being held at Northmoor Country Club, a par-71 course totaling 6,108 yards.

The 2010 Windy City Classic will host seven of the top 50 teams in the nation according to Golfweek Sagarin rankings. Defending tournament champion Purdue (No.7), New Mexico (No. 20), TCU (No. 26) and host Northwestern (No. 37) all return from last year's field. Tournament newcomers Texas Tech (No. 40) and San Diego State (No. 42) could also be contenders for this year's title.

Sophomore Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) led the Knights in their last outing, the Cougar Classic, finishing eight-over and in a tie for 37th. Pinegger will again be playing at the number one position followed by senior Katie Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn.) at number two and freshman Kaitlyn Price (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) at number three. Detlefsen and Price played well throughout the weekend in South Carolina both shooting 10-over par, and tying for 45th. At number four and five respectively, sophomores Sunny Harris (Pensacola, Fla.) and Valentina Fontaine (Santiago, Chile) look to improve on their season average and help the Knights win their first team title of the season.
