ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Several members of the UCF cheer and dance squads brought smiles and spirit to the children at Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital Wednesday afternoon. UCF mascot Knightro was the big hit of the morning visit, giving high-fives and hugs to all the children in attendance.

The children got the chance to step away from their life at the hospital, engaging in arts and crafts, reading books, and even playing games like bowling and tennis on the Nintendo Wii with the Knights.

Each child displayed a little bit of their personality in the short time with the spirit squad. Some children were laughing, all were smiling, but most importantly the kids were able to spend time being kids for a few hours and enjoy the festivities of Halloween.

"It's so important for the children in the hospital to not only know, but experience how much the community cares for them. The interactions between UCF representatives and the children was a perfect way to accomplish this. For an hour, patients who have been through so much were able to escape from their hospitalization and enjoy just being a kid," commented Jennie Cerny, certified child life specialist, on the visit.

The visit was in conjunction with this weekend's football game. This Saturday, UCF Athletics and Bright House Networks Stadium are hosting Healthcare Provider Day for the football game against East Carolina. Special reduced price tickets are available to members of the health care business by calling the Athletics Ticket Office.

Saturday also serves as Scout Day at Bright House Networks Stadium. Boy and Girl Scouts and their families can purchase a reduced price ticket, with the scouts participating in a pregame clinic and a receiving a commemorative game patch. For more information contact the Athletics Ticket Office at (407) 823-1000.

The home finale will be Saturday, Nov. 13 against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, 2-1 in the league this year. Saturday's game will also feature Knightro's Halloween Pregame Bash on IOA Plaza and also one lucky UCF fan will be selected as the 1,000,000th fan to come to Bright House Networks Stadium since it opened in 2007.
