GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team finished play at the ITA Southeast Regional in solid fashion Saturday. Two of the three Knights in action picked up singles wins.
In consolation play, senior Blaze Schwartz (Pensacola, Fla.) got past Dean O'Brien of Georgia Tech, 6-4, 6-3. Junior Claudio Romano (Valencia, Venezuela) eased past Stetson's Hans Adrien Rising (6-2, 6-0).
Junior Joe Delinks (Falmouth, Mass.) was also in action Saturday. In the round of 32, he fell to Will Spencer of Georgia, 6-0, 6-3.
"Both Claudio and Blaze played really well today," UCF head coach Bobby Cashman said. "They split during the tournament, but ended playing their best tennis. Joe battled against a great player today, and I am pleased with his effort."
UCF began play in Gainesville on Friday. Florida hosted the event.
The Knights will conclude their fall campaign next weekend when they host the UCF Invitational.
