ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Three Knights will represent the UCF men's tennis squad this weekend when they return to Gainesville, Fla., to compete in the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Championships on Friday. The tournament is one of several events occurring nationally to determine seeding for the USTA/ITA Intercollegiate Championships, and the event continues through Monday.
Senior Blaze Schwartz (Pensacola, Fla.) and juniors Joe Delinks (Falmouth, Mass.) and Claudio Romano (Valencia, Venezuela) will represent the Black and Gold at the tournament.
Florida will host the tournament at the Ring Tennis Complex. Players from several schools in the states of Florida and Georgia will compete. The singles and doubles champions will advance to the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships held in Flushing, N.Y., on Nov. 4-7.
The Knights return to Gainesville where they began their fall campaign at the Gator Invitational. Delinks and Schwartz shined in doubles play, as the pair went 2-1. The duo is ranked 52nd in the country in doubles.
Romano only played one singles match in Gainesville, picking up a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Wael Kilani. Kilani is ranked 53rd nationally.
