ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF rowing team added a little bit of flair to its usual practice attire today as it joined the city of Orlando in raising awareness for breast cancer by wearing pink for PINKTOBER Day.

Mayor Buddy Dyer officially proclaimed Friday as PINKTOBER Day in Orlando and encouraged the citizens of the city to demonstrate their support of breast cancer awareness by wearing pink.

On the national level, President Barack Obama signed a proclamation at the beginning of the month designating October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The American Cancer Society says there are roughly 40,000 breast cancer deaths each year in the U.S.
