ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - SAVE THE DATE for Saturday, Oct. 23 as UCF takes on the Rice Owls at Bright House Networks Stadium. The Conference USA showdown, presented by SunTrust, will highlight a busy Homecoming week at UCF as well as a fun-filled game day for fans leading up to the 3:30 p.m. kick-off. There is much in store to make this a game you won't want to miss!
* UCF Football In-Game Jersey Ceremony: During the game, displays of four special jerseys, which will be forever on display inside Bright House Networks Stadium, will be unveiled.
* Community Hero Appreciation Day: The Knights will recognize military from all service branches, police, and fire fighters in appreciation of the extraordinary effort and service they provide. Additionally, veterans, active community heroes, and their families may purchase reduced price end zone tickets ($20) to the game! UCF Athletics would like to encourage all fans to continue the success of our Community Heroes campaign by purchasing and donating tickets for our community heroes at just $20 per ticket. To purchase tickets contact the Athletics Ticket Office at 407-UCF-1000 or by logging on to UCFAthletics.com.
* Homecoming 2010 Knights On Film: The traditional weekend where alumni return to campus to get reacquainted. The game is the culmination of a festive homecoming week on campus that includes Comedy Knight, Concert Knight, Movie Knight, Spirit Splash, Saturday's parade and more!
o Homecoming tailgates begin at 8 a.m.; Arrive early to catch this year's parade, starting at 11 a.m.
o The 2010 Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during a halftime ceremony.
* Gold Rush 2010: Be sure to wear gold this Homecoming. Stop by the Barnes & Noble UCF Bookstore and pick up your official NIKE game-day clothing and apparel.
* Orange County Appreciation Day: All residents and businesses of Orange County are invited out to receive special recognition at the game. All Orange County Government employees can purchase reduced price end zone tickets ($20) by visiting the Orange County Government intranet site or calling the Athletics Ticket Office at (407) 823-1000.
* The Knights To Remember Garden: Prior to the game, UCF Athletics will unveil a rock garden honoring the football program's history. Fans will now and forever be able to stop by IOA Plaza and take a walk down memory lane reading about the people, games and accomplishments that highlight UCF¡¦s football past.
* UCF Basketball Postgame Madness: Following the football game, fans can get their first glimpse of Coach Donnie Jones' new-look Knights during UCF Basketball Postgame Madness at the UCF Arena. The free, hour-long event, which will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the football game, will feature an inter-squad scrimmage that includes both the men's and women's teams, as well as the opportunity to select your season ticket location for the upcoming season.
* FLW College Fishing: The National Guard FLW College Fishing will have their Reel Life festival set-up on the North end of IOA Plaza. Numerous interactive fan booths will be sponsored by the festival including a rock climbing wall and a surfing blow-up. FLW Outdoors College Fishing Tournament will be giving away hats, shirts, soft coozies and beads.
* UCF ISP Sports Fan Faire: While you are at IOA Plaza, venture over to the UCF ISP Sports Fan Faire and catch the Smokey Bones Tailgate Radio Show beginning at 1:30 p.m. or visit one of several corporate partner tents distributing UCF-themed promotional items. Fan Faire participants will include game sponsor SunTrust, Busch Gardens' Howl-O-Scream, E-Tour & Travel, Smokey Bones, Holler-Classic Automotive Group, Blue Man Group, Florida Farm Bureau, The Parking Spot and Air Force. The annual Howl-O-Scream will be providing free thundersticks to the UCF student section prior to kickoff.
