ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Former UCF men's golf standout David Johnson recently posted a strong performance during the first section of qualifying on the European Tour. Playing in Portugal at Ribagolfe, Johnson finished the four-round event at 3-over 291.

He will now move on to the second qualifying stage, which will be held in Spain at the end of November.

Johnson concluded his UCF career in 2009. As a senior, he garnered All-Conference USA Second Team honors. Johnson helped the Knights claim the NCAA Regional title in nearby Sorrento, Fla., and also win the C-USA Championship crown.

After finishing his time at UCF, Johnson competed on the Asian Tour.
