ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Conference USA announced its first men's soccer weekly awards of 2010 Tuesday and thanks to eight points in two victories, UCF's Nicholas Keown-Robson was honored as the C-USA Offensive Player of the Week. The sophomore from Auckland, New Zealand, helped guide the Knights to a pair of home shutouts to open the season.
After leading UCF with eight goals and six assists as a freshman in 2009, Keown-Robson picked up right where he left off in 2010. In the season-opener against Jacksonville Sept. 1, he posted assists on UCF's first two goals, then hit the back of the net himself on a penalty kick in the first half in a 5-0 Black and Gold victory.
Then on Sept. 6 vs. Florida Atlantic, Keown-Robson gave UCF a 2-0 lead in the 47th minute by putting away a shot off a cross from Eduardo Jimenez. Keown-Robson would eventually have another penalty kick attempt in the 82nd minute and easily converted for his third goal of the year as the Knights cruised to a 4-0 win.
Keown-Robson and the Knights are now looking ahead to a five-match road trip which starts this weekend at the UNC-Wilmington Tournament. UCF will be back at home Oct. 2 for the C-USA opener against SMU.
